Guru Gobind Singh Indrapraastha University, which started at Kashmir Gate in New Delhi in December 1998 by Government of NCT of Delhi under the provisions of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998 with an aim to increase education facilities involving studies, research and extension to work primarily in area of professional and higher education in Delhi.

This affiliated and teaching university teaches in discipline of engineering, technology, architecture, management, law, medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing, education, journalism and mass communication, etc. Within the short span of nine years, Guru Gobind Singh Indrapraastha University, established itself, as a premier educational institute among Delhi Colleges and University and have acclaimed fame within India as well as Globally.

It is currently teaching in 60 courses at 10 University Schools and 80 (Eighty Affiliated Institutes) that are government as well as self-financing. From its Kashmir Gate Campus that is spread around in 16 Acer of area, it has 10 University Schools and One University Maintained College (IGIT) imparting higher education.

The University ultra modern state of the art campus is coming in an area of 60 acres at West Delhi (Dwarka) and has Institute of Information Technology in East Delhi (Surajmal Vihar) on cards.
