1. Introduction : The traces of present Zakir Husian College can be linked back to 17th century, a Madrasa founded by Ghaziuddin Khan one of the Emperor Aurangzeb's leading Deccan commanders. However, Madrasa with the efforts of wealth citizens of the Delhi formed into an oriental college for literature, science and art at the site in 1792. The college held affiliation with Delhi University in 1928 became a degree college finally a P.G college in 1943. Evening classes started at the college in 1958 and it received its original name in 1975. The College is administrated by Zakir Husain Memorial Trust headed by Prime Minister of India.

Facilities : The College has huge library with at least 1, 11, 500 books, Multi Media Library, College Auditorium, Seminar and Audio Video Room, Computer Labs, Canteen and Chat Corner, Career Counselling and Placement Cell at the college guide students to develop their career in various professional areas, faculty mentor scheme, college greens.
